One day guided tour from Letkés to Szob

JOIN our unique one day canoe tour on one of the most beautiful rivers in Hungary, river Ipoly. Ride with us on our moderate programme in the neighborhood of Budapest.
ROUTE AND DISTANCE: 13 km, 5 hours (Szob) – Letkés – Szob.
DIFFICULTY: 2 / 5 Moderate, winter weather may be challenging.
THE PRICE of the programme is HUF 10,000 Ft / person in a tour canoe.
Single and double tour kayaks are available for extra fee: only for experienced paddlers (please see the application form)
DATES: 2023. February 4., 11., 18. – always on Saturday
APPLICATION IS HERE Applications are accepted by Thursday evening prior to the program.
Experience the unique beauty of winter waterlands on river Ipoly that is a romantic, still safe river due to its shallow water.
There is no bad weather, just bad clothing.
We meet at Szob train station at 10.00AM and drive together to the starting point in Letkés in our minivan. On the shore we will gear up and paddle in our steady tour canoes roughly 1,5 hour, 7 km where we land and serve mulled wine, hot tea and a few bites. Than we paddle another 1,5 hour, 6 km back to Szob that is our destination.
Our heated minivan escorts the programme.
The tour guide is Endre Máté, an experienced water tour organiser, who holds 18 times Ironman title.
*This programme is not suitable for kids under 10-12 year – we can not provide kid size waterproof clothing.
*Dogs are welcome. However it is important that your dog does not endanger the stability of the canoe. Please call us if you plan to bring you dog! We can not provide life vests for dogs.
The PRICE of the programme (HUF 10,000 Ft / person in a tour canoe) includes:
– fully equipped canoes and transportation – paddles, life jackets, waterproof barrels,
– tour guiding
– transportation of participants between Szob and Letkés and a heated escort van,
– hot tea, mulled wine and pogacsa or home made sandwiches served at half way.
*For each canoe a navigator is required, please inform if you are not willing to navigate.

The full amount is to be transferred upfront to the bank account that we will send you with your application.
CLOTHING: Participants MUST wear rubber boots as it is inevitable to step into the shallow water.
We are ready to rent rubber boots and waterproof pants, jackets if you do not have for a modest fee.
– participants have to provide warm, layered or thermal clothing, that allows you paddle comfortably. Waterproof ski suits and rubber boots are ideal.
– at least two pairs of thick socks ( no padding in the boots)
– gloves, scarf, cap ( sunglasses)
– please have an extra set of clothing and thick socks, so you can change in case of flip over ( never happened on our winter tours), or at the end of the programme.
TRAVEL: Individual departure from and to Budapest Nyugati station in heated comfortable train carriages. You also can park safe your car in the Szob P+R parking lot for free.
Proper toilet is available only at Szob train station.
OTHER:
If the river is frozen we cancel the programme and will inform the applicants three days prior to the departure. In this case the application can be validated for a different date or we reimburse the money without deduction.
We are ready to organise this tour on a different date for minimum 6 participants.
