Explore the Garam River and its surroundings with us on our 4 day/3 night guided kayak tour between Garamkálna and Zebegény!

The Garam is a lesser known, exciting, rapids-filled, clear-water river that flows through all of Slovakia and flows into the Danube below Esztergom. 

Exciting kayaking tour is waiting for you! We will pass 10 rapids on Garam, the passage for kayakers at Zselíz will be opened for our group. On the rapids, overturning may occur, in some sections we will lower the boats on ropes and climb over stones. Helmets and life jackets must be worn. Each day, before setting off, the guide will give a detailed description of the section to be covered and will guide the participants one by one through the challenging stages.

This region was historically Hungarian before becoming part of Czechoslovakia in 1920 under the Treaty of Trianon and then Slovakia  since 1993. The territory  remains mainly inhabited by Hungarians. On the tour we will enjoy both the Slovakian and Hungarian  cultures of the region; we will meet the warm hearted Hungarian village people,  whilst tasting Slovakian zmrzlina (ice-cream), Kofola (the Communist answer to Coca-Cola),  herring salad and outstanding Slovakian beer.  In Oroszka, we will visit the largest private military collection in Eastern Europe. 

The tour is also timed to the Garamkövesd Wine Days, the region’s most beloved mini wine festival: we’ll tour the open cellars, learn about not only the Garam wine region and its fine wines, but also about the warm-hearted Hungarian wine farmers who are usually retired train drivers and talented musicians.

which includes kayaks, guiding, organization, accommodation, meals, luggage transport during the day, museum entrance fee and transport from Zebegény to Garamszentgyörgy.
